JOHN LIONARONS of Lansdowne, PA is a multi-instrumentalist, teacher, theatre artist, and award-winning hammered dulcimer player.  In Sept. 2022 he took first prize in the NATIONAL HAMMERED DULCIMER CHAMPIONSHIP in Winfield, KS. John appeared in the Original Broadway cast of the musical Quilters in 1983 making him BROADWAY'S FIRST HAMMERED DULCIMER PLAYER; he was most recently seen in the New York premiere of the Irish drama Dublin By Lamplight.  He has been nominated three times for Philadelphia’s BARRYMORE AWARD for Excellence in Theatre and has placed seven times in the NATIONAL HAMMERED DULCIMER CHAMPIONSHIPS.  John has recorded four solo albums of traditional and original music for dulcimer.  His latest CD, Going Home, is a collection of early hymns. For the last ten years “Philadelphia’s Colonial Dulcimer Player” has been plying his trade throughout Old City’s historic district where his spirited playing has been enjoyed by countless visitors along with such notables as Mrs. Betsy Ross, General George Washington, Dr. Benjamin Franklin and (former) Governor Ed Rendell.
